A watchlist for organized political violence

Political Violence Map is a static Situation Monitor: a Leaflet world map, a 65-country watchlist, and a handful of explainers. It is published by AXIA Enterprises at politicalviolencemap.com. The GitHub repository is AXIA-Enterprises/political-violence-map.

The site is built to answer three questions quickly:

Where, on this watchlist, is organized violence most severe?
What kind of organized violence does UCDP record — state-based, non-state, or one-sided?
Is the app’s derived trend label worsening or stabilizing?

It is not an operational intelligence product, a live event feed, or a substitute for ACLED, UCDP, or humanitarian agencies. Seed figures in the JSON file are rounded placeholders pending a live import. Do not add them up and call the sum a global death toll.

What “political violence” means here

This publication follows the organized-violence tradition used by the Uppsala Conflict Data Program and the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project, not a colloquial “protests plus crime” bucket. UCDP’s three categories — state-based, non-state, and one-sided — are documented in the UCDP Dataset Download Center. ACLED’s Conflict Index ranks countries on deadliness, danger to civilians, geographic diffusion, and armed-group fragmentation; see About the Conflict Index.

How to cite

Cite the publication as Political Violence Map (politicalviolencemap.com). Attribute underlying metrics to ACLED, UCDP, IDMC, UNHCR, OCHA, IPC, the Fragile States Index, or the Global Terrorism Index as appropriate. Do not cite derived risk bands, risk scores, or trend arrows as source measurements.
